Countercrawl is a community building project brought to you by the CounterCollectiveCollectiveCollective, a revolutionary, evolutionary event that makes experiencing art an artistic experience unto itself.

The concept of Countercrawl is that local, up and coming artists of limited means within this vibrant community are able to meet and have a dialogue with their peers in an effort to organically grow into a community of self-sustaining artists. By supporting Countercrawl, you are to setting the stage to allow more artists in the future exposure at subsequent Countercrawls. We’re pushing the boundaries of the artist-viewer relationship, blurring the line between creation and experience.

CounterCrawl, inaugurated July 9, 2011 in Houston, features art, music, community, and sustainability along a multi-stop bike crawl of DIY, non-profit, and artist-run spaces. CounterCrawl seeks artists producing work in new media and emerging forms, exploring methods of interactivity through installations, video, performance, sound, and architecture based in socially-engaged critical practices. CounterCrawl provides a venue for artistic and critical experiments difficult to exhibit in a traditional gallery setting.
